Hi guys,
at the beginning of this year Popsugar released a reading challenge list in which the goal was to fullfill every task. So see what I’m talking about, here is the list I printed out and finished recently this November.
To finish it, I combined tasks with books because to be honest, reading one book per task is nearly impossible (from my perspective). This post is basically going to be a list of books, in which I’m listing which task I combined with which book. The goal of this is to get new books discovered, inspirations,…whatever. You will see soon that I combined a lot. Here you go!
You know you love me – Gossip Girl #2 by Cecily von Ziegesar:
- A book by a female author
- A book set in a different country (New York City, USA)
- A book set in high school
- A book based on or turned into a TV show (Gossip Girl aka my obsession)
Yes Please by Amy Poehler:
- A funny book
- A nonfiction book
- A book by an author you’ve never read before
- A memoir
All I want is everything – Gossip Girl #3 by Cecily von Ziegesar:
- A book you can finish in a day (and I did)
A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin:
- A book with more than 500 pages (duh)
- A book that was originally written in a different language (I’ve read A Clash of Kings in German, so it counts)
Horns by Joe Hill:
- A book that became a movie (with Daniel Radcliffe. It’s a really good one.)
- A book with a one-word title
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard:
- A book published this year (2015)
- A book written by someone under 30
- A book set in the future
- A book with color in the title
The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead:
- A book with magic
Faust Part 1 by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe:
- A book you were supposed to read in school but never did (for my defense that was the time period I did my high school semester in the USA. I was supposed to read it there but duh.)
- A play
- A book you own but never have read
- A book more than 100 years old
Dream Story by Arthur Schnitzler:
- A book you own but never read (we were supposed to read it in school (my last year) as well but somehow I never did. What a glorious school year that was. Eh.)
- A book that takes place in your hometown (Vienna)
- A book you started but never finished (okay I’ve read like a page before but that doesn’t count as either read or not read)
The Wicked + The Divine by Kieron Gillen:
- A Graphic Novel
Outstanding Short Stories by G.C. Thornley (Publisher):
- A book of short stories
Unwind by Neal Shusterman:
- A book based entirely on its cover
- A book a friend recommended (hello @ Denise)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling:
- A book from your childhood
Of Poseidon by Anna Banks:
- A book written by an author with your same initials (AB)
- A book with nonhuman characters
It by Stephen King:
- A book that scares you (it did and it was disgusting as well, thank you Stephen).
- A book from an author you love that you haven’t read yet
Die Ordensburg by Bernhard Hennen:
- A book at the bottom of your to-read list (apparently it was down there for a reason).
City of the Beasts by Isabel Allende:
- A book your mom loves
- A trilogy (along with Kingdom of the Golden Dragon and Forest of the Pygmies)
MondSilberLicht by Marah Woolf:
- A book with bad reviews
Burial Rites by Hannah Kent:
- A book based on a true story
All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr:
- A Pulitzer Prize-winning book (buddy read it with @ Miss Getaway)
The Giver by Lois Lowry:
- A book that came out the year you were born (1993)
- A banned book
1984 by George Orwell:
- A book with a number in the title
Girl Online by Zoe Sugg:
- A book set during Christmas
Love Letters To The Dead by Ava Dellaira:
- A book with antonyms in the title
The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks:
- A classic romance
- A book that made you cry (I’d use the word sad because I haven’t read one single book in my lifetime that makes me cry simply because I don’t cry over sad stories)
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins:
- A mystery or a thriller
The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides:
- A popular author’s first book
Just This Once by Rosalind James:
- A book set somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit (New Zealand)
Greed by Fisher Amelie:
- A book with a love triangle
So this has been the Popsugar Reading Challenge for me. At the end of this year there will be a total list of books I have read since I haven’t just read these books. Maybe you’ve found some inspirations on what to read next. 🙂
Have a nice day!

I linked all the books to goodreads, in case you have an account and/or want to check the book out 🙂
Holy shit you’re insane! I’m still missing a few of the challenges and think some are impossible to tick off by the end of the year. Duh, what a bummer.
Love, Kerstin

I guess it’s a thing between me and to-do lists, which the reading challenge kinda is. I’m the same with Book-Tube-A-Thon, it’s really insane. So it’s okay to not manage everything, it’s not a competition.
